| THANK YOU for helping end poverty through microfinance! |
See you next year for our annual Microfinance Conference & Gala — Microfinance is a broad range of financial services including loans, deposits, payment services, money transfers and insurance. Receiving worldwide attention in 2006 when Muhammad Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize for his groundbreaking work in microcredit, microfinance has become a global movement providing poor and low-income households with a way to prosperity through micro-enterprise and access to financial services.
Toronto International Microfinance Summit (TIMS) is bringing the world of microfinance to Toronto. The Summit began with a successful inaugural Microfinance Conference in November 2009. In 2010, a fundraising Gala was added. In 2011, building on previous success, over 40 speakers from 30 organizations on 5 continents presented. Attendees represented diverse backgrounds and ages. Business leaders and development professionals, people from NGOs and foundations, young professionals, students and media were all in attendance. Gala proceeds were designated to support domestic and international microfinance projects and an educational scholarship. A NEW! MicroMarketplace enabled local micro-entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products and services to conference attendees. And a NEW! mobile app ,web-based and optimized for any mobile phone, kept participants connected and tweeting at #TIMS2011. View it now
