RCMI Dress Code
PLEASE NOTE: the Royal Canadian Military Institute (RCMI) has a Dress Code.
Formal business attire is appropriate throughout the RCMI.
Any customer and/or guest/s will be asked to leave the facility if attire is not permitted including the following:
faded, worn or torn jeans,
sweatshirts or suits,
athletic shoes or casual beach sandals; nor
apparel with bold slogans or commercial messages.

THE ROYAL CANADIAN MILITARY INSTITUTE – DRESS/COURTESY POLICY
While a constant effort is made to adjust the dress permitted in designated areas to conform more closely to generally accepted and current standards, formal business attire (jacket and tie for males or its equivalent for females) is always appropriate throughout the Institute.
Business Casual Attire as defined below is permitted throughout the Institute except during evening functions when Business/Formal attire is required in both the Main Dining Room and Long Bar.
Males – tailored pants shirts with collars and sleeves, and turtleneck sweaters.
Females – dresses, tailored pants, skirts, collared and collarless shirts, blouses and sleeveless summer dresses are permitted.
Jeans are permitted at all times in the Short Bar only.
NOT PERMITTED are faded, worn or torn jeans, sweatshirts/suits, athletic shoes and casual/beach sandals nor apparel with bold slogans or commercial messages.
Military/Police/Firefighter dress shall be the dress of the day or any order of dress dictated by the Relevant Dress Orders. Short sleeve order or day dress is not acceptable after 1900 hours.
Coats and Hats Coats, hats, umbrellas, overshoes or rubbers shall be left in the cloakroom space provided.
Cellular Telephones – Cellular telephones and pagers are to be turned off or on vibrate while on the premises. Cell phone conversations are permitted the elevator lobbies and on in the stairwells and landings. Incoming calls should be held until the device can be moved to such an area.
As per Ontario by-law there is no smoking permitted on any RCMI property, including the balconies.
